Duplex Spiral Staircase

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Stairs Complete - Residential
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect Jointly
Total Labor Hours: 1000
Finish Type: Metallic Paint
Materials Used: Mild Steel
General Description: This project called for a new duplex, open riser spiral staircase to join two floors in an existing apartment. Our team developed the design from architect-drawn renderings and an existing perforation pattern. The design consists of a custom rolled and fabricated c-channel stringer with an ornamental face plate. The perforation pattern unfolds seamlessly across the entire design. Our team provided templates for the floor cutout, 3d surveys, fabrication and installation. The stair was delivered to site primed and painted in the field with several layers of bronze metallic topcoat.

Fernandez Clubhouse Spiral Staircase

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Stairs Complete - Residential
Designed by: Architect
Total Labor Hours: 510
Finish Type: Paint
Materials Used: Aluminum
General Description: The Fernandez Clubhouse was designed with a feature, exterior spiral staircase. This two-story, 7' diameter spiral was fabricated with 8" aluminum pipe handrail cap and horizontal round pickets, all custom rolled for this remote clubhouse. The treads are aluminum bar grading, and the spiral frame finish was a high gloss, custom color paint. The greatest challenge of this project was the install, due to the enclosed surroundings which required a crane to lift and us to perfectly guide it into place.

Monolithic stair

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Stairs Complete - Residential
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect Jointly
Total Labor Hours: 200
Finish Type: Monolithic stair
Materials Used: Steel and Stainless Steel
General Description: These two monolithic staircases are fabricated using 8"x6"x3/8" rectangular steel tubing for the mono stringers. There were two facets to this job that made it quite difficult. First, the staircase print was originally drawn with 3" Brazilian maple treads to be mounted on 3/8" steel plate. However, the architect and owner realized the price of Brazilian maple put them way over budget. Therefore, they left it up to our shop to create a new design for the treads. We chose to break up 1/4" plate and inset composite decking in the treads, which would match all the new decking being installed. While the two staircases were similar in shape and size, they are not identical. Both staircases are mounted in a 5'x5'x5' concrete footer in order for them to free stand, while the tops are only secured to a wood deck. Second, we were notified the architect's computer program could not draw a handrail to meet code on the staircases.

Stairs to Serenity

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Stairs Complete - Residential
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect Jointly
Total Labor Hours: 1280
Finish Type: Epoxy Primer, Automotive Catalyzed Topcoat, Brushed 316 Stainless
Materials Used: Structural Steel, Stainless Steel, Bluestone, Glass
General Description: A single-stringer, helical staircase landing between two sides of a lazy river pool from beginning at a landing right outside the house’s breakfast area. Each stainless-steel glass mount component was designed and fabricated in-house, each glass panel meticulously templated to the precise degree after each stair tread was set. In-field completion of the stainless-steel railing tops were carefully detailed out. This was one of the projects that we cut our teeth on, and it took us from who we thought we could be to knowing what we are – fabricating wild ideas through boundless ideas and tenacious problem-solving.

Three Story Spiral with Ribbon Center Column

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Stairs Complete - Residential
Designed by: Fabricator
Total Labor Hours: 2855
Finish Type: Raw Galvanization
Materials Used: Steel
General Description: This spiral staircase, made from forged and fabricated steel, spans three stories and features an inside ribbon tube stringer and an outer cage structure for support. The cage is reinforced with hot-riveted uprights and brackets in a repetitive wave pattern. The staircase was fabricated in four sections and hot-dip galvanized in single dips using temporary bracing to maintain structural stability. The foundation uses 17 one-inch threaded rod anchors embedded in 24 inches of concrete, secured by a stainless-steel bolt and rebar cage. Each flight bolts to the one below using custom leveling nuts. Installation was completed in two hours with a 200-foot crane in windy conditions. The finish is wire-wheel-cleaned galvanized steel, and the CNC-routed IPE treads feature a wave pattern.
