GOLD WAVES

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect Jointly
Total Labor Hours:1200
Finish Type: Painted Finish – Metallic Black & Mirror finish Brass
Materials Used: Steel railings with Brass decorative panels

General Description: The client provided us with a generic idea of the design with brass features. We had to incorporate these brass elements in such a way that is code compliant. Each panel was cut with the waterjet out of ½” steel plate for precise and clean appearance. The two-sided decorative ‘wave-shaped’ brass panels were also waterjet cut, mirror finished then added to the railings after painting. The tight space and weight of the railings made the installation extremely difficult. Each run had to be made in 3 separate sections and TIG welded together in place. As a result, we had no choice but to finish paint the entire railing system on site to meet the client’s high expectations.

BLACKENED STEEL ELEGANCE

Is this a joint venture:  No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect Jointly
Total Labor Hours: 255
Finish Type: Blackened steel with wax
Materials Used: CD 1018 steel and A36 steel

General Description: Modern yet classic and elegant design came together from collaboration between us and the architect and interior designer. The stairs were existing on this historic home that was being renovated and modernized, so the existing stair had to be 3D laser measured. The balusters are rectangular CD1018 steel and each one is mortised into the treads and landing above. The hoops are all custom made. The handrail lateral at the bottom of the stair is custom formed from stock handrail profile to ensure a perfect match in color and texture versus welding in a stock cast lateral.

A CRISP TAKE ON A CLASSIC DESIGN

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect (jointly)
Total Labor Hours: 5000
Finish Type: Patina
Materials Used: Steel and brass

General Description: This custom guardrail connects four floors of a private residence and required close coordination between stone, ornamental metal and wood. Our company developed the master 3D model for coordination and pre-installed locating elements to allow for parallel off-site fabrication of stone and metal. Custom bronze collars were machined in-house and installed with an innovative mechanical connection detail. Scrolls and racetracks were waterjet cut and formed into clean turns and transitions. The stair is a crisp take on a classic design and a true legacy piece.

GREEK FIRE

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator
Total Labor Hours: 200
Finish Type: powdercoat satin black rails, with powdercoated brass flames
Materials Used: custom cast flames, cast collars. 1.5" pipe, 1x1/4" flat, 1x1/4" flat, 3/4x1/8" flat, large cap rail, 1 1/4" channel, 1 1/2" square tube, 3/4" square tube, 1/4" plate, 1 1/4x3/8" flatbar. 1/2" square rod.

General Description: On this railing the fabricator was given full creative range to build what I wanted. Entirely built in shop with all steel construction with custom cast flames. Mostly all cold forged scrolls, with heat only being applied on the tips of the largest scroll, making the Acanthus Volutes at the top of staircase, and one offset. The posts were made of split 1.5” pipe, ¼” plate, ¾x1/8” flat bar, and the cast flame. Railing is made of large caprail and channel, 1”x ¼”, 1 ¼”x ¼”, and ¾”x1/8” flatbars. Wall offsets are plasma cut from ¼” plate, and one is twisted rod. The Acanthus Volutes are made of large caprail, 1 ¼”x3/8” flatbar, and ¼” plate. Powdercoated satin black and brass for the flames. Making the pair match was the most challenging. Additionally the loft used 1 ½” tube , ¾” tube and collars. Sections are bolted together. About 200 hours invested in the staircase and loft rails.

VIP STAIR

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect (jointly)
Total Labor Hours: Shop: 795, Finish: 140, Install: 400
Finish Type: Acrylic Polyurethane Paint
Materials Used: Mild steel

General Description: This sweeping curved stair showcases the precision and artistry of advanced fabrication and installation. Each tread and stringer was custom-formed to exacting radii, ensuring perfect alignment of the dual curvatures—both in plan and elevation. The railing system, featuring an intricate, fan-patterned infill and continuous LED-lit handrail, demanded millimeter-level accuracy. Structural steel components were waterjet cut, rolled, and welded in controlled shop conditions. Installation required complex 3D coordination to achieve seamless transitions across changing slopes and angles. The concealed LED integration within the curved handrail added an additional layer of technical sophistication, blending electrical precision with architectural grace. The completed stair is both an engineering triumph and a sculptural centerpiece—uniting craftsmanship, geometry, and light in a fluid architectural form.

WATER-MAN

Is this a joint venture: No
Category: Interior Railings - Ferrous, Nonforged
Designed by: Fabricator/Architect (jointly)
Total Labor Hours: 325
Finish Type: Black paint
Materials Used: Cnc-cut plywood, A36 bar, Walnut

General Description: What kind of railing is so tightly detailed that you have to build the wall that it goes on? This kind of rail. Custom-crafted in-house hot rolled steel railing with walnut cap, its helical curve called for measurements so precise that it needed to have the wall built to its specifications, and not the other way around. The off-set balusters allowed for invisible-to-the-eye welds. Corresponding decorative wall divider completed the look.
