Kind words from the
2017 Todd Kinnikin Scholarship winner David Frank
I would like to thank you for the great opportunity to attend the NOMMA convention and the great educational classes. I learned a lot from the NEF classes and met many great people. Everyone I met was very nice and welcoming. I learned many things I never would have thought of in your measuring class. I have already put to use some of the apps you recommended to help with measuring and your template for measuring railings for stairs is excellent. I feel I got a lot of good information from the code updates class taught by Tony from Wagner. I didn’t know much about glass railings going into his class, but I came out with a lot of useful information. The copper metallurgy class by Larry was excellent and I wish we would have had more time for that class. I never knew that C385 architectural bronze was actually a brass alloy. The aluminum metallurgy class was great also and I learned many things. I never knew there were so many available extrusions. It was great being able to meet the representatives from the many businesses our company deals with and have the opportunity to build relationships with them and put a face to the voices on the phone. Richard from Julius Blum was very helpful in answering many questions I had for him and he said he will even be stopping by our shop in the near future. Stacy from Lawler Foundry was very welcoming and even bought Bailey and I our coffee one morning which we are greatly appreciative for. The party for a purpose was a lot of fun and it was amazing how much money was raised for NEF. We had a lot of fun at the super bowl party with Todd Daniels, Patty, Joe, John Steel and Chris Holt. Sorry about your Falcons Todd. I am looking forward to attending next year in Phoenix, AZ and being able to see all the great people from NOMMA once again.

I wanted to thank everybody for welcoming David and Bailey to Metalfab this year. He was a little nervous about going, but you guys made him feel at home! I was extremely busy this year and couldn’t make it, but It was good that he went out on his own, met a lot of great people and came back excited and with some new ideas. Without the Scholarship he probably wouldn’t have gone. I can definitely attest that the scholarship did its job! I hope he represented us well. I am planning on going next year and can’t wait to meet everyone.
